Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds and a strong vision for the future. The scholarship offers full financial support to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university whilst also giving access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

What is included?

As Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded, your award includes the following:

  • university tuition fees
  • a monthly stipend

QAU announces MPhil/MS & PhD admissions for fall 2019

qaaIslamabad: Applications from Pakistani/Foreign Nationals are invited for admission to M.Phil/MS Programme & PhD in Biological Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social sciences of the University latest by 09-08-2019.

For MPhil/MS, the applicants must have to their credit: First Division in MA/MSc or in BA/BSc or at least 60% marks in BS (Hons) and all other 4-5 years Degrees;

Shall not have obtained third division in BA/BSc or MA or MSc ;

In case of 3rd division in FA/FSc, the candidate should have obtained 1st division in both BA/BSc and MA/MSc; or at least 60% marks in BS (Hons) and all other 4-5 years Degrees;

No Objection Certificate from the employer is required to be attached with Admission Form and routed through Proper Channel in case of in-service applicants; (* Candidates applying for MS (IST) are exempted from this requirement.)

The applicants must provide official certificate showing percentage of marks obtained in MSc/BS Hons/4-5 years programme.

How to Apply:

The Admission Data Summary Sheet can be downloaded from the QAU website,, along with a  Challan of the Habib Bank Ltd. OR Askari Bank Ltd. amounting to Rs.2100/-.

The applicants are advised to deposit the same in the Habib Bank Ltd. OR Askari Bank Ltd. in favour of the Treasurer, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (throughout the country with bank charges, non-refundable).

The Bank Challan should be attached with the downloaded Admission Data Summary Sheet along with other requisite documents; otherwise the incomplete and late applications shall not be entertained

One copy of the downloaded Admission Data Summary Sheet duly filled in and supported by the attested copies of educational testimonials i.e. Certificates and Degrees must be submitted directly to the Chairperson/Director of Department/School/Institute/Centre by hand/ courier etc. latest by 09-08-2019 positively. Subject Test:

The admission to MPhil/MS programme shall be made on the basis of cumulative merit to be determined from previous academic record, University written subject test and interview.

No separate call letters for test/interview will be issued.

Only the test pass applicants will appear before the interview as per schedule of the Department/ Institute/ School/ Centre (DISC) concerned.

The lists of the pass applicants shall be displayed on the notice boards of the relevant Department/ Institute/ School/ Centre (DISC)

European Union announces traineeship program for young graduates in Pakistan

What we offer?

traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Trade and Communication (PTC) Section of the EU Delegation to Pakistan, starting in July 2019 (or earlier if feasible).

The PTC Section supports the Ambassador in his mandate to promote the EU-Pakistan relations, including coordinating bilateral high level visits, ensuring EU coordination on political and trade issues and contributing to reporting on political, economic and trade matters, besides managing public diplomacy activities.

Main tasks:

  • Draft Daily Local English and Urdu Press Reviews, 
  • Support to EU Delegation’s organised public diplomacy events,
  • Draft background reports from open sources
  • Draft minutes of internal meetings

Mandatory qualifications:

  • You are Pakistani or EU Member State national (or dual national) holding a long term valid resident statusin Pakistan

Additional requirements that would be an asset:

  • Excellent drafting and communication skills in English and Urdu;
  • Degree or studies in mass communication or journalism;
  • Studies in European Affairs (post graduate course, thesis etc.)  
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

USEFP announces Hubert Humphrey Fellowship

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished mid-career professionals with demonstrated leadership potential to the United States for a year of graduate-level non-degree academic coursework and professional development activities. This ten month program consists of academic coursework and internship in a relevant professional organization. By providing future leaders and policy makers with experience in U.S society, culture, and professional fields, the program provides a basis for lasting, productive ties between Americans and their professional counter parts overseas. Approximately 18 campuses have been selected through a competitive process to host fellows in group with thematic and subject affinities. Each university is chosen based on institutional resources and the level of support and guidance it offers for academic and administrative support. Faculty advisers also assist Fellows in pursuing balanced academic and professional programs. All participants must return to Pakistan immediately following completion of their program.

Cycle

  • Tentative Announcement: April
  • Duration: 10-12 months
  • Grantees start studies: Fall next year

Eligibility Criteria

Successful applicants must be committed to serving Pakistan. They must be Pakistani citizens with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional/work experience, coupled with a Master’s degree and a guarantee of re-employment upon return to Pakistan. Applicants must possess a high level of fluency in spoken and written English. Successful candidates should be poised to assume leadership positions in their field.

Ineligibility

Applications will not be accepted from university teachers or researchers with no management experience or similar responsibilities, those who attended graduate school in the U.S. in the last seven years or who have had long-term U.S. experience within the last five years. Also ineligible are persons with a dual U.S./Pakistan nationality or who have a spouse, fiancé, parent or child over the age of 18 who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Employees of the Fulbright organization or the U.S. Department of State are also ineligible.
